Principal's Message Transcript

Good Morning:
Yesterday you received a letter from Jeff, updating you on the steps that ASD has or will take concerning the COVID-19 virus.
In that letter it stated that, “ASD’s Human Resources policies are being reviewed in connection with COVID-19, and we are currently in the process of updating our policies and procedures related to infectious diseases.”
Attached you will find an Infectious Disease Policy. Please read it at your earliest convenience. I will be posting it to the ADP Workforce Now policy section in the next couple of days.
Highlights from Policy, and topics to be aware of:
Prevention
It is important to remember that many of the universal precautions taken to prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses will also protect against the spread of other respiratory illnesses, such as COVID-19. These precautions include:
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
School Sanitization
ASD is committed to maintaining a clean and sanitary environment. As standard practice, all hard surfaces and frequently touched surfaces are cleaned and sanitized daily.
As an additional precaution, ASD is using an electrostatic disinfectant sprayer to sanitize the cafeteria, restrooms, locker rooms, and hand rails.
Additional disinfectant supplies have been purchased and will be available in all classrooms to encourage regular cleaning.
Symptoms
Symptoms related to COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
If you have any of the above symptoms, please seek medical attention.
Policies
Please refer to our Employee Handbook regarding our sick leave, short term disability, and FMLA policies. All current policies will remain in effect until further notice. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact me.
Planning
Out of an abundance of caution, ASD has cancelled all field trips, conferences, competitions, and student trips, effective immediately, through March 31, 2020. We will continue to monitor and reevaluate should the need to cancel be extended beyond March.
In state special events will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Please be aware that plans are being developed to address possible state mandated school closings. We will keep you updated as necessary.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me at
