Thank you for your interest in visiting ASD. Founded in 1817, ASD is the oldest permanent school for the deaf in the United States and the birthplace of American Sign Language and Deaf education in this country. We’re proud of that history, and we’re just as proud of the vibrant, bilingual learning community our students and staff build here every day. We’d love to show you around.
Cogswell Heritage House (ASD Archives)
The Cogswell Heritage House holds ASD’s archives and tells the story of more than two centuries of Deaf history. Visitors can explore artifacts, photographs, and records that trace the growth of ASD, the development of American Sign Language, and the Deaf community’s lasting influence in America. It’s a valuable stop for history lovers, researchers, students, and anyone who wants to understand where Deaf education in the United States began. Schedule a historic tour here.
Visiting for Admissions?
If you’re a prospective student or family, or a professional exploring placement at ASD, please go through our Admissions Office instead of the general tour request. Admissions visits are set up separately so we can match the visit to your student’s needs. Visit our admissions page here.
We look forward to welcoming you to campus!
