ASD students’ passion for science and technology was showcased on Saturday, February 8, 2020 when ASD hosted the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition on our West Hartford campus. The team earned a position on the slate for the State Tournament which took place on February 22, 2020. In addition they won the Judges Award which acknowledges teams who behave with professionalism and grace.
At the state tournament Teacher and Robotics Advisor Cynthia Rumery could not have been prouder of the ASD team and their performance . The team achieved a personal best as well as "negotiated" extremely well with their alliance team (as part of the competition the team works with another team to perform the tasks) - Cynthia was blown away by the team's negotiating skills in this category. The Team was also acknowledged as 3rd runner up for the Inspire Award - which is the highest honor at the competition.
Special thanks to Cigna for their sponsorship of the ASD team!
