American School for the Deaf Welcomes Paula Morabito as Director of Education

West Hartford, Connecticut (July 8, 2019) — The American School for the Deaf (ASD) is pleased to announce Paula Morabito will be joining the school’s Executive Leadership Team as Director of Education, beginning August 15, 2019. Morabito will be responsible for the daily administration of all on-campus educational programs while serving as the primary liaison between ASD, Local Education Authorities (LEAs), and other state agencies.

Morabito joins the American School for the Deaf with over fourteen years of experience in educational leadership. Most recently, she served as the Director of Student Services at Shared Services at Region 7 in Winsted, CT. There, Morabito worked collaboratively with district-wide administrators and staff providing oversight and guidance on several programs. Morabito’s previous employment experience as a Teacher of the Deaf at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in New York also provided her with firsthand knowledge about the field of Deaf Education and the unique learning styles of deaf and hard of hearing students.

“My hands-on approach and experiences in problem solving have been exceptionally rewarding,” Morabito said. “Throughout my experiences in the classroom to the district level, I have developed the skills necessary to cultivate and maintain a professional relationship, and foster a collaborative working environment. I am excited to bring a broad exposure and in-depth experience with current best practices in education to ASD.”

In addition to her vast special education leadership experience, Morabito also brings to ASD an extensive knowledge about IEP facilitation and mediation, Crisis Prevention and Intervention, and special education legal professional development.

“I am excited to welcome Paula to the ASD family as our new Director of Education,” stated ASD Executive Director, Jeffrey Bravin. “Paula’s wealth of experience working with students and local education agencies within the special education arena will aid us in transforming our dreams into realities as we implement ASD’s 2019 – 2022 strategic plan. Paula’s skills will be an asset to ASD’s leadership team as we continue upholding our mission to provide the best education and resources for all deaf and hard of hearing students in Connecticut, and beyond.”
