Welcome to the place where deaf education in America began more than 188 years ago! The cradle of American Sign Language and Deaf culture, ASD remains a leader in educating deaf and hard of hearing children and youth and in providing services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals from birth through adulthood.
In addition to our campus-based pre-school, elementary, junior high and high schools and our Adult Vocational Services programs, ASD’s Outreach & Support Services provides assistance for teachers, school districts, employers, parents and families. Our CT Diagnostic & Evaluation Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals is a unique partnership with the University of Connecticut Health Center/Medical School and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center that serves adults and children throughout the region. Services include audiological assessments; cochlear implant therapy; hearing aid evaluations, fitting and repair; sign language services; as well as educational and psychological evaluations.
ASD offers a wealth of resources for people seeking information and/or services pertaining to deafness. We hope you enjoy exploring our site and learning more about the School. If we can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us! |
