The American School for the Deaf Academic Bowl Team earned an invitation to the National Tournament at Gallaudet University in Washington DC. They were selected to participate after they reached the championship round at the Northeast Regional Tournament held on March 28, 2010 at Old Rochester Regional High School in Mattapoisett, MA. The students competed against 15 other schools and lost in the final round to The Learning Center, but secured a place in the Nationals being held on April 24-28, 2010.
Members of the team are Darby Ireland, Corey Pratt (Captain), Kevin Macisco, Jacob Waring and Alyssa Dole. Coaches are Betty Poster and Christa Bolen. The Academic Bowl was started in 1997 by Gallaudet University and ASD was the first host of the tournament. This is the first time that ASD has made it to the National Tournament.
