Athletics

ASD sports studentsThe goal of ASD athletics is provide our students an opportunity to develop the ideals of sportsmanship and personal behavior, while assisting them in learning and honing their skills in the sport of their choice.  The coaching staff strives to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and teamwork.

There are six athletic associations for the deaf in the United States. ASD is a member of the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association (ESDAA) whose mission includes "providing member schools and their athletes challenging tournament and championship competition focused on sportsmanship, ethical behavior and integrity."

In addition to schools for the deaf, ASD competes with area private and parochial schools and public schools. Our affiliations include: ESDAA, New England Preparatory School Athletic Council, and Western New England Preparatory School Athletic Association.

Athletic offerings include:

Fall:

Winter:

  • Basketball (boys and girls)  Schedule
  • Wrestling (boys)

Spring:

In addition to team sports, we have a recreational swimming program and a supervised fitness facility with a circuit of Nautilus station, stair climbers, treadmills, stationary bikes, weights and floor exercise equipment.
