Celebrate 200 years of Deaf Education in 200 miles!

In 2017, ASD will celebrate the 200th anniversary of our school, Deaf education in America and the birthplace of American Sign Language 

In honor of our school's anniversary, we are hosting a 200 mile historical bike tour in Connecticut. 


SCHEDULE

June 18th - 9:00 am Breakfast at ASD; Ride starts at 10:00 am.  Bag lunch along the route. Dinner (place to be determined) after we go to the Hilton Garden Inn Preston Connecticut and clean up.
 
June 19th - 6:00 am - 9:00 am Hilton Garden Inn Preston Connecticut continental breakfast is served; Ride Starts at 9:00 am. Lunch along the route at Harry's Place in Colchester. Dinner (place to be determined) after we go to the Redroof Inn Plus Guilford Connecticut and clean up.
 
June 20th - 7:00 am - 8:00 am Redroof Inn Plus Guilford Connecticut continental breakfast is served; Ride starts at 8:00 am. Lunch provided by LifeBridge Community Services along the route. Dinner at Camp Isola Bella.
 
June 21st - 6:30 am breakfast at Camp Isola Bella.  Ride starts at 7:30. Snack provided along the route. Lunch at ASD at the conclusion of the ride. 


 



Bike Tour Update:

Cycling Jerseys for Riders who Have Previously Signed Up Have Been Ordered


The deadline for the cycling jerseys was April 21st.
The jerseys have been ordered for all riders who signed up by April 21st. Riders who sign up now will not receive a cycling jersey.

Transportation:

June 18th: Riders will be responsible for getting their bikes and equipment to The American School for the Deaf for the start of the tour by Sunday morning, June 18th. 

ASD will provide transportation at the end of the ride either to the hotel, or back to ASD for those not staying at the hotel.

June 19th: ASD will provide transportation both from ASD to the start of the ride and from the Hotel to the start of the ride.

ASD will provide transportation at the end of the ride either to the hotel, or back to ASD for those not staying at the hotel.

June 20th: ASD will provide transportation both from ASD to the start of the ride and from the Hotel to the start of the ride.

ASD will provide transportation at the end of the ride either to Camp Isolla Bella, or back to ASD for those not staying at Camp Isolla Bella. 

June 21st: The ride begins at Camp Isolla Bella. Bikes will be there.  The ride ends at The American School for the Deaf.  Riders will provide their own transportation back home or wherever they are staying.


Lodging:

June 18th: we have booked rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Preston (Casino area) to wake up near the start for day 2.

June 19th: we have booked rooms at the Redroof Inn Plus - Guilford, Ct to wake up near the start for day 3.

June 20th: riders can stay at camp Isolla Bella to wake up at the start for day 4.

If you need a hotel before June 18th or after June 20th you will need to book your own room at a local hotel. 


Meals:

June 18th: ASD will provide breakfast at the ASD, Lunch along the tour, and dinner near or at Foxwoods

June 19th: ASD will provide breakfast at the Hilton Garden, lunch along the tour, and dinner (Location TBD)

June 20th: Redroof Inn Plus will provide a continental breakfast, lunch along the tour, and dinner at Camp Isolla Bella.

June 21st: ASD will provide breakfast at camp Isolla Bella, lunch along the tour, and dinner at ASD.

We will have some snacks (granola bars, bananas, water) in the bus for breaks during the ride. 

*if you have any food allergies or intolerances or prefer specific foods, please make arrangements to acquire alternatives to what we are providing.
