All Family Education Services (FES) events are open to ALL parents/families of deaf/hard of hearing children. Your child does not have to attend ASD to attend these events.

Family Education Services (FES) Upcoming Events:


Family Fish-A-Thon will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Camp Isola Bella in Salisbury, CT.  10:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Come and join the other families for a day of fun!   Please bring your own fishing equipment, bait and picnic food.  We will provide the grill and charcoal.  Please note that all persons fishing over the age of 16 MUST have a valid Connecticut Fishing License.  ASD assumes no responsibilities for injuries during the Fish-A-Thon.  Parents are REQUIRED to supervise their children for this event.  Please click on the blue link for more information.

 

Sign Language Classes for Parents and Families

Learning to sign does take commitment, practice, and time.  Do not be afraid to start learning.  Good communication will enhance your relationship with your child throughout your lives.

2017 Spring Parent Day Sign Language Class will begin on April 26 and will run every Wednesday morning until May 31 for a total of 6 weeks.  Classes start at 11:00 a.m. and end at Noon in the GCEC Activity Room. Adult Family members are welcome.  Please click on the link for registration information.

2017 Spring Parent/Sibling Sign Language Class will begin on April 20 and continue every Thursday until June 1.  Classes begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. in various rooms in the Gallaudet-Clerc Education Center.  Child Care will be provided for ASD students and children younger than 4.  There are two adult classes, a children's class and a teen's class.  Please click on the blue link for more information.
