Located on the campus of the American School for the Deaf, the Connecticut Diagnostic and Evaluation Center for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Individuals is open to deaf and hard of hearing children and adults throughout Connecticut and the Northeast. - Comprehensive team evaluations

A Center for Information and Resources
The Center provides access to a wide variety of information, resources and services designed to support deaf and hard of hearing individuals in school, home and work environments. With extensive experience in the field, Center staff are available for consultation on a fee-for-service basis.

ASD Children's Center
Complete Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children
Providing state of the art, comprehensive evaluation and treatment services to ASD students, the Children’s Centeroffers audiology services as well as psychological and counseling services. Ongoing Assessment Services are provided as needed, and may include audiological assessment, hearing aid evaluation, cochlear implant therapy, counseling assessment, psychoeducational assessment, and interest testing. |

Psychological and Counseling Services
Based on the recommendations of the Planning and Placement Team, including the local education agent (LEA), parents and school staff, students may receive one or more of the following services: |

- Individual or group counseling (short or long term)
- Transitional counseling
- Individual planning activities
- Crisis intervention
- Group or individual behavior intervention plans
- Coordination of referrals to outside service agencies
- Facilitation of services from other agencies

Audiology Services
A wide variety of audiological services are available for ASD students, including:
- Hearing screening programs for preschool and school-aged children
- Comprehensive hearing evaluations
- Dispensing, fitting and repair of hearing aids and other auditory devices
- Aural habilitation/cochlear implant therapy
- Listening and communication strategies
- Medical, educational and community referrals
- In-service training and consultation on hearing impairments for school personnel

Audiology Services is an Initial Diagnostic Hearing Test Center under the state’s Universal Newborn Hearing Screening program.
Similar services may be available to non-ASD students through the Connecticut Diagnostic and Evaluation Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals. |
