Volunteers play a vital part in the life of the American School for the Deaf.
In a typical year, the school receives over 3,000 hours of volunteer assistance in all departments, from everyday service helping in the classroom to tutoring a child after school to special events such as Family Learning Weekend or the school's annual Golf Tournament.
The ASD Intern Program provides housing and meals to pre and post college students in exchange for their volunteer work. The benefit for the intern is practical experience with deaf education and deaf culture from working in dorms and classrooms, and from immersion in a sign language environment. This long-term, in-depth involvment helps the intern in the development of educational and career plans.
To become a volunteer or intern, please fill out the online Volunteer Application Form. If you prefer to mail the form, you can fill out the printable version of the application.
