Job Title: Educational Marketing Specialist(s)

  Part-Time; up to 8 positions.
Scope of Duties:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, or his designee, assists with coordination of all activities related to marketing educational programs at the American School for the Deaf.  This position also functions as a team member of the Educational Marketing Team.

Primary Duties:
  1. Analyze Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Birth to Three, and Pre-K through 12 data in Connecticut, and develop information-contact campaign with appropriate agencies.
  2. Develop and implement a plan to educate LEA-Agency personnel on ASD programs and services, using face-to-face information strategies, as well as other marketing activites.
  3. Collaborate with ASD School Departments to develop materials, and a dissemination plan for those materials.
  4. Assist parents, in collaboration with ASD Family Education Services and ASD Birth-to-Three, in advocacy and locating appropriate resources.
  5. Plan and conduct parent meetings (and other interested constituents) throughout the state on advocacy, best practices, resources and parent networking.
  6. Work with various state agencies, Special Education Resources Center (SERC) in looking at staff, family, and LEA needs.
  7. Conducting and analyzing graduate follow-up.
  8. Assist with marketing and planning the ASD LEA Conference and other special events.
  9. Other related duties as assigned.
   
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf or related field. A minimum of five or more years experience is required in an educational environment, preferably education of the deaf and hard of hearing.  Strong public speaking skills essential.  Experience interacting with public school personnel and parents preferred. Strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills required.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office systems required.  In depth knowledge of IDEA, special education laws and regulations required.  Ability to relate to parents and work some flexible hours required.  Proficiency in sign language skills required, SLPI Intermediate level preferred, or the expressed willingness and commitment to improve and develop sign skills to Intermediate level.
