Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Students, the Residential Counselor assumes the responsibility for the supervision of deaf children and youth during out-of-school hours; participation in planning and staff conferences with academic staff.
Schedule: M-Th: 2:15pm-11:45pm; 38 hours per week
Primary Duties:
Prepares, implements, and evaluates after school programs for deaf youth.
Participates in conferences with academic staff, parents and support staff.
Responsible for encouraging students to maintain good personal hygiene and attire, and appropriate dorm environment.
May serve as coach, advisor or work supervisor with students other than those in residence hall.
Prepares report cards, student evaluation reports, lesson plans and parent communication reports.
Organizes and monitors student study time.
Assist with reporting and participate in Treatment Plan meetings as appropriate.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma, two years of college preferred. Possess an Intermediate level of Sign Language Communication skill. One-year experience working with children in a residential setting, CDL Driver’s License must be secured. Good judgment, dependable, CPI Certification.
Salary & Benefits:
Compensation range is specified by union contract on a ten-month basis.
