| The
American School for the Deaf serves deaf and hard of
hearing individuals from birth through adulthood with
a variety of programs and services. The Elementary School
is the home of ASD’s Teddy Bears Pre-School and
Day Care Program, Pre-School, and Grades K-6. Junior
High and High School offer college-preparatory and vocational
education, as well as a Deaf with Special Needs (DSN)
program. The PACES Program serves students ages 5-18
with emotional and behavioral disorders, and the Adult
Vocational Services (AVS) program helps deaf and hard
of hearing adults develop job and independent living
skills. |
Application to ASD
made be made by a parent or legal guardian, a
person with legal authority to act in place of
the parent or legal guardian, the school district
in which the student resides, or by any student
age 18 or older. Parents and school districts
are critical partners in planning a student's
program. If the application was not initiated
by the Local Education Agency (LEA), it is recommended
the LEA be included so that an admission evaluation
process can begin as soon as possible. |
|
 |
|
As
soon as the Admissions Office receives all required
paperwork, we will contact you to arrange an appointment
at the earliest possible date. Following a comprehensive
pre-admissions evaluation and a decision by the LEA
Planning and Placement Team, an Individualized Education
Plan will be developed for the student. Each student's
performance is monitored and formal reports are made
throughout the year, including progress reports and
report cards. |
